Expert: Second Round Of Talks Between Ukraine And Russia In Istanbul May Not Take Place

Ukraine is ready to hold another round of talks with the Russian delegation next week. The venue of the meeting is the same - Istanbul.
This cannot be said about the Russian Federation, which again finds the smallest excuse to delay the negotiation process in every possible way. This is what said Doctor of Philosophy, Ukrainian expert on foreign and domestic policy Ludmyla Pokrovshchuk.
- Regarding the negotiations to be held on June 2 in Istanbul, it is quite difficult to say something. Because there are preconditions that they may not take place. Russia may change its mind, not fly or something else may happen. Anything can be expected from the Russian Federation. Or something will happen in the United States, and Trump will say, well, let's see first what Russia assumes, and then we will negotiate," Pokrovshchuk said.
At the same time, she noted that according to the statements of the American side, in particular Keith Kellogg, Trump's special envoy, representatives of Europe and the United States will be present at the planned talks in Istanbul.
- We also hear another statement from a White House spokesman that Donald Trump has not yet decided whether or not the American side will be present. And at what level it will be present," the guest pointed out.
So, she said, how the talks will be held, in what format, is still unknown.
One also recalled: the "memorandum" that Russia itself offered to write and provide to the negotiating partners, no one has ever seen.
-"The memorandum" was offered by Russia itself. It was just during Trump's May 19 call to Putin when he proposed this "memorandum." By the way, no one understands - what it is. Most likely, it is some intentions of the Russian Federation. This "memorandum" was promised to be handed over to Ukraine for familiarization immediately after the exchange of "1000 for 1000". But this never happened. Apparently, Russia has deceived once again", - stated the Doctor of Philosophy.
According to her, most likely, in the "memorandum" Russia will again prescribe all its "desires" and ultimatums.
- There will be all the same "desires" that were there before and that we have been hearing about for three years. This whole list. Therefore, we can assume that the Russian side will try to press with its ultimatums again during the negotiations. I do not think that Ukraine can agree to all the points that the Russian Federation will prescribe. Therefore, it is not clear yet what these negotiations may lead to. But one thing is clear - Russia proves with all its actions that it does not seek peace and delays the negotiation process in every possible way," Lyudmyla Pokrovshchuk said.
