The explosion came after Belgrade's accusations by Russian Federation.
In the early morning of May 30, an explosion occurred at the Krusic defense plant in the Serbian town of Valjevo, N1 portal reported.
According to him, seven people were injured and hospitalized with minor injuries. The plant's statement, cited by the b92 edition, said the explosion occurred during routine work on pressing explosives for ammunition and ammunition primers, The Moscow Times.
Krušik is one of Serbia's largest defense plants. The company was founded in 1939 as a private ammunition factory. Today, the plant also produces anti-tank missiles and mortars.
The day before, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) accused Serbia of producing ammunition for Ukraine, despite the neutrality declared by the authorities. According to the SVR, the matter concerns "hundreds of thousands of shells" for rocket artillery and howitzers, as well as "millions of cartridges" for firearms. Supplies of these ammunition to Ukraine are made using "false end-user certificates and intermediary countries," which include NATO countries - the Czech Republic, Poland and Bulgaria - as well as African states. The SVR noted that the largest companies of the Serbian defense complex, including Krusic, Yugoimport SDPR, Zenitprom, Sofag, Reyer DTI, etc., were involved in the scheme.
