A Matter Of Life And Death

Kiev needs our real help.
The Economist writes about what Ukrainian military experts warned about almost a year ago. The next stage in the evolution of warfare is swarms of machine-controlled attack drones. This is a type of warfare that humanity has not yet encountered. And it looks like Ukraine will be the first country in the world that will have to seek an answer to this most complex challenge.
First, the Russians mastered and scaled up the production of the once absolutely primitive flying "suicide belts" - Iranian Shahed drones. Then, under combat conditions, they developed new tactics for using this terrorist weapon. Later, they began experimenting with its warheads, screwing thermobaric and cluster munitions onto the Shaheds - and sometimes just stuffing them with nails to kill as many people as possible.
Now, according to journalists citing their military sources, the newest models of these drones are invulnerable to Ukrainian electronic warfare equipment. "Shaheds" no longer depend on GPS signals, but are controlled by artificial intelligence and use Ukrainian Internet networks and mobile communications.
What's more, engineers studying the downed drones told the publication that they recently found a note in one of the devices - probably from a sympathetic Russian engineer - that hinted at a new control algorithm. It is possible that the drones are now being controlled via bots in Telegram, which transmit flight data and video feeds to operators in real time. At the same time, according to Ukrainian intelligence, the Russians plan to increase production of such drones to 500 per day.
This is extremely disturbing information, particularly for Israel. All these "achievements" in the development of terror weapons will sooner or later end up at the disposal of Iran and its proxies. Kiev needs our real help in developing methods to counter these new killing technologies. This is a matter of life and death for us ourselves.
