ISW: The AFU Advanced Near Toretsk

There are successes at two sites.

Ukraine's armed forces have managed to squeeze the enemy and advance near Toretsk, Donetsk region, U.S. OSINT observers from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) inform.

It is stressed that the geolocation footage, which was released last Friday, May 23, shows that the AFU fighters and other units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces have advanced in the Donbass in the northern part of Toretsk, as well as on the section of the frontline north of Toretsk itself.

At the same time, as ISW analysts write in their regular report, the advancement of enemy troops near Kurakhovo, as well as Novopavlovka, is recorded on the Ukrainian-Russian battle line. The Russians also conducted assault operations near Toretsk, Delievka, Dachne, Krymskoye and other settlements in Donetschina.

Additionally, American OSINT analysts cite the words of an unnamed deputy commander of the AFU mechbattalion holding the frontline in the Toretsk direction; the latter informed that the Russian Armed Forces are trying to cut the communication lines of Ukrainian defenders with the help of drone strikes. According to the AFU officer, the most dangerous UAVs are those made with fiber optics: they are the most difficult to combat.
