The restrictions will be in place for seven months.
The government has reintroduced compulsory licensing for the import of a number of wood products. The restrictions will be in effect for seven months. The corresponding decree is published on the National Legal Internet Portal, reports "Zerkalo".
A single license will be required to import into the country, for example, chipboard, oriented strand boards, wooden windows and doors, furniture, cardboard and paper packaging. Such permits will be issued by the MART, coordinating them with the concern "Bellesbumprom. However, if similar products are produced in Belarus, the concern may refuse to issue a license.
There are exceptions: the permit will not be required for goods from the EAEU countries, products from the Eurasian register, humanitarian aid, goods under quotas, as well as transit cargo. In addition, the restriction will not affect small consignments of goods, if their value per document does not exceed €1,000.
The document will come into force in a month and will be valid for seven months.
Reminder, such measures were first applied in Belarus in 2022 and have been extended several times since then. After the restrictions were lifted in January 2025, Bellesbumprom proposed to return them, arguing that there was sufficient production capacity in the country and the need to support domestic producers.
It was also recently reported that Belarus had not restored the previous volumes of timber harvesting after the sanctions were imposed.
