The former world champion, who has resumed his career in eight weight classes, will fight against Mario Barrios.
Former world champion in eight weight classes Manny Pacquiao, who decided to resume his boxing career at the age of 46, will fight American Mario Barrios in Las Vegas on July 19. Pacquiao announced this on his Instagram.
In early May, World Boxing Council (WBC) President Mauricio Sulaiman announced that the Filipino will fight Barrios, the WBC welterweight champion, in July.
"I'm back. On July 19, I will step into the ring to face WBC world champion Mario Barrios at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas," Pacquiao wrote, posting a poster for the upcoming fight.
Pacquiao is the only boxer to become champion in eight weight classes. His last fight was in August 2021, when he lost to Cuban Yordenis Ugas by judges' decision in a fight for the World Boxing Association (WBA) world title. In total, the boxer won 62 victories (39 by knockout) during his career, with two more fights ending in draws.
After his career ended, Pacquiao had several exhibition boxing fights, the last one in July 2024 against Japanese kickboxer Rukiya Anpo (draw).
The 30-year-old Barrios has 29 wins, two losses and a draw in the professional ring.
