An infestation of ticks has happened in one of the regions of Belarus. And this news worries specialists, writes "Tochka".

For January - May of this year, more than 800 residents applied to polyclinics, about 100 cases were recorded only in the last week.

At that, every third victim is a child. Trouble with ticks in Grodno region. Entomologist of the regional center of hygiene, epidemiology and public health Valentina Slizevich reported that the region is experiencing a peak of parasite activity.

"Which is due to favorable weather conditions. According to forecasts, up to 6,000 people will be affected during the season," said the speaker on air of the TV channel "Belarus 4. Grodno" and added that every fourth of the examined bloodsuckers is a vector of infections.

According to Grodno entomologists, the largest number of these parasites was found in the forest (50% of cases) and at dachas (40%).
