Gunfire heard, drone shot down.
Russia's military airbase in Syria, located in Hmeimim, was the target of an armed attack. Gunfire rang out there, probably caused by members of radical groups in Syria.
It was reported by the local ANHA.
According to media reports, unknown gunmen attacked several Russian military checkpoints around the Hmeimim airbase in western Latakia.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights Monitoring Center said there was "unprecedented security tension" around the Hmeimim airbase following the attack. This could indicate that the attacking base is likely linked to armed groups allied with the Damascus government.
The media also reported the shooting down of a drone flying near Hmeimimim.
There is no official information about the scale of losses or the person responsible for the attack.
At the same time, a number of Russian Telegram channels claim that the Hmeimim base was attacked by four "suicide bombers" from Uzbekistan, who allegedly do not recognize the Syrian government headed by Ahmed al-Sharaa. Three of them were liquidated.
