They were "driven" out of the temple.
Representatives of Minsk's St. Elizabeth Convent, which supports the war against Ukraine, were "chased away from the church in Rome" on May 17, according to the telegram channel "Khrystsiyanskaya viziya".
"Sisters of the Holy Elizabeth Convent were spotted selling Latin church vestments near the Madonna Perpetuo Soccorso church in the center of Rome - not far from the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. The church is used by the Redemptorist order," the report said.
It is noted that two Greek Catholic Ukrainian priests from occupied Berdyansk Ivan Levitsky and Bogdan Geleta, who "spent two years in Russian captivity, were subjected to abuse and torture and in June 2024 were released as part of the exchange", belong to the mentioned order.
"The fact that representatives of the monastery, which supports Russian aggression and helps the Russian army, deployed their outlet near the church could not but cause outrage among Ukrainian and Belarusian believers, and they appealed to the church leadership," the Telegram channel reported.
As a result of the "coordinated actions" of the believers, the leadership of the Roman church decided to "expel the peddlers from the temple."
The St. Elizabeth Monastery openly supports Russian military aggression and provides assistance to the Russian army.
In May 2023, the monastery announced a concert in Minsk to support "hospitals and wounded fighters of the Russian army involved in special operations." It was noted that the funds raised would go toward "the purchase of medical equipment and medicines for hospitals in Donbass." The announcement of the concert was marked with the hashtag "We do not abandon our own," which is popular with Russian propaganda. The poster of the event depicted the Latin letter Z - a symbol of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
While visiting the monastery on Christmas Day, January 7, 2023, Alexander Lukashenko supported the collection of aid for the Russian military at the front: "You are doing the right thing. Don't pay attention to a dozen or two paid people. ...> We are helping our Russian brothers."
