Rubio Delivered A Strong Message To Lavrov From Trump

The U.S. State Department gave details of the conversation between the U.S. Secretary of State and the Russian Foreign Minister.

The U.S. State Department revealed the content of the telephone conversation between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, which was first reported by the Russian side, the European Pravda reported.

The State Department noted that the conversation took place on Saturday, May 17.

- Secretary Rubio welcomed the prisoner exchange agreement reached during the May 16 Ukraine-Russia talks in Istanbul and conveyed a strong message from President Donald Trump: the United States is determined to achieve a long-term end to the Russia-Ukraine war," the U.S. side said in a communique.

"The comprehensive peace plan proposed by the United States outlines the best way to do so," the statement added.

Rubio also reiterated Donald Trump's call for an immediate ceasefire.
