Putin sent people who are incapable of making decisions.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said after landing in Ankara, Turkey, on Thursday, May 15, that Ukraine can be represented at the highest level of negotiations with Russia. At the same time, the level of the Russians is more like "bogus".
He told reporters at the airport, the video of the statement was broadcast by the Office of the President of Ukraine, writes New Voice.
He emphasized that Ukraine's delegation at the highest level, including representatives of the Foreign Ministry, the Office of the President, the military, and intelligence, had arrived in Turkey. This will make it possible to make any decisions that can lead to a just peace.
Zelensky said a decision regarding further negotiations with the Russians will be made after an expanded meeting between the Ukrainian delegation and Turkish President Recep Erdogan, which will also be attended by U.S. representatives.
"The level of the Russians is more like a bogus level. We will think about what we will do, what our steps will be after talking to President Erdogan. We will see what the Russians' mandate is and whether they are capable of making something on their own, because we all know who makes decisions in Russia," Zelensky said and added that he does not officially know the composition of the Russian delegation for the talks yet.
The Kremlin confirmed earlier on May 15 that dictator Vladimir Putin would not come to Turkey for talks with Ukraine. Instead, he sent his aide Vladimir Medinsky, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin, and Chief of the General Staff Igor Kostyukov to Istanbul. They have probably already arrived. The talks, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry, could begin in the afternoon.
