Lukashenko signed the law, which amends the current restrictions for individual entrepreneurs (IE). Journalists Telegraf.news have studied the document and figured out under what conditions Belarusian entrepreneurs can now be prohibited to work as sole proprietors.
The bill was announced by the Council of Ministers at the beginning of the year, and now it has been approved and signed by the head of state. On Thursday, May 15, the text of the relevant law was officially published on the National Legal Internet Portal, and the changes officially came into force.
What will change for Belarusian entrepreneurs?
The conditions for imposing restrictions on working as an individual entrepreneur will change. They are in force now: if the total amount of income or gross proceeds from entrepreneurial activity during the calendar year exceeds Br500 thousand, the law imposes an official ban on entrepreneurial activity for this individual entrepreneur. In order to continue doing business, in this case, the entrepreneur must be registered as a legal entity.
But, under the new rules, the ban on work in the status of IE will be limited in time - it will be imposed for three calendar years, starting from January 1 of the year following the calendar year in which the tax authorities have recorded exceeding the income threshold of 500 thousand rubles.
