The government is considering the possibility of increasing the tax burden for some Belarusians. Such plans are spelled out in the published program of the Council of Ministers for 2025-2029, writes "Zerkalo".

The program states that the authorities intend to further improve the tax burden. It stipulates that the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Taxes and Levies will prepare amendments to taxes for the "wealthy" during the current five-year period.

The document provides for "increasing the social justice of taxation by further increasing the tax burden on 'wealthy' taxpayers, including their income and property".

To this end, they are going to prepare a draft law with amendments to the Tax Code. Other details on this issue are not reported.

Reminder, from 2024, Belarus has introduced an increased tax for those who earn more than Br200 thousand a year. Such people must pay income tax of 25% of the excess amount instead of the current 13%. We're talking about income from dividends, labor contracts, as well as civil law contracts.
